She has greatly contributed to the study\u00a0of normative pragmatics by focusing on the role of interaction and conversational features of argumentative exchanges in her account\u00a0of\u00a0argumentation as design.<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dan.sperber.fr\" target=\"_blank\">DAN SPERBER<br \/>\n<\/a><\/span><\/strong>Central European University, Budapest, Hungary<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/philosophy.ceu.edu\/sites\/philosophy.ceu.edu\/files\/styles\/panopoly_image_full\/public\/danphoto2.jpg?itok=8PH-pbNh\" alt=\"Dan Sperber\" width=\"180\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dan Sperber has devoted his research to the study of cultural, social and cognitive features of human nature. He is the co-author of one of the most influential theories in pragmatics, Relevance Theory, and the main initiator of the study of epistemic vigilance, which are both key theoretical explorations of the relationship between understanding and believing. In his latest work he developed the argumentative theory of reasoning, which articulates the fundamentally social dimension of human reasoning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"https:\/\/staff.fnwi.uva.nl\/j.vanbenthem\/\" target=\"_blank\">JOHAN VAN BENTHEM<br \/>\n<\/a><\/span><\/strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/philosophy.stanford.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/large-scaled\/public\/johanaaas_2.jpg?itok=srMEGiq0\" alt=\"\" width=\"178\" height=\"225\" \/>University of Amsterdam, Netherlands<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Johan van Benthem&#8217;s work\u00a0has decisively influenced the international landscape of the study of logic for nearly 40 years. His research, broadly conducted\u00a0as a systematic study\u00a0of human reason, has covered all areas of logic and has many times extended its\u00a0scope to explore issues in neighbouring disciplines such as mathematics, linguistics, game theory and cognitive science.
