There are three basic ways to travel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ana.pt\/en-US\/Aeroportos\/lisboa\/Lisboa\/PlanYourTrip\/Public-Transport\/Pages\/Public-Transport.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">from \/ to the airport<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Metro (\u20ac 1.25)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The airport is on the Red Line, which connects with every other metro line &#8211; and gets you directly to the\u00a0S\u00e3o Sebasti\u00e3o (terminal station), some 10min walk from <a title=\"Venue\" href=\"https:\/\/ecargument.org\/?page_id=73\" target=\"_blank\">the conference venue<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Metro map is available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metrolisboa.pt\/eng\/customer-info\/diagrams-and-maps\/\" target=\"_blank\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The machines that sell metro passes have instructions in English and accept Euro coins and notes, as well as most debit \/ credit cards. We recommend buying a &#8220;<em>Viva viagem card<\/em>&#8221; (\u20ac0.50) and topping it up with the amount you will spend (\u20ac5, \u20ac10, \u20ac15). It&#8217;s called &#8220;<em>zapping<\/em>&#8220;. You can use this card\u00a0 on any public transportation, including metro, buses, famous Lisbon trams and escalators, ferry boats, and local trains. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metrolisboa.pt\/eng\/customer-info\/information-on-fares\/\" target=\"_blank\">One trip will cost you \u20ac1.25<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Aerobus (\u20ac 3.50) \/ Public Bus (\u20ac 1.25 &#8211; \u20ac 1.80)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information, see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ana.pt\/en-US\/Aeroportos\/lisboa\/Lisboa\/PlanYourTrip\/Public-Transport\/Pages\/Public-Transport.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Public buses which take you to nearby the conference area (Campo Pequeno, Saldanha,\u00a0Marqu\u00eas Pombal): 744, 783.\u00a0 See <a href=\"http:\/\/www.carris.pt\/en\/buslines\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> for routes and timetables.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3) Taxi (\u20ac 10 &#8211; \u20ac 15)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lisbon taxis are quite cheap, although, according to the testimony of our Canadian colleague, &#8220;I find drivers tend to overcharge foreigners departing from the airport&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> A normal fare<\/span> from the airport to the conference area is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">around \u20ac 10<\/span>, to the centre of the old town around \u20ac 13-15.<\/p>\n<p>Note, the meter should be on tariff 1, the starting fee\u00a0 \u20ac 3.40 (or \u20ac 3.90 on weekends \/ nights). You will be charged \u20ac 1.60\u00a0extra for using the boot (it&#8217;s one fee, NOT per suitcase!).<\/p>\n<p>Well, Good Luck!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Around Lisbon:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Same information applies:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.metrolisboa.pt\/eng\/customer-info\/diagrams-and-maps\/\" target=\"_blank\">Metro Lisboa<\/a> serves four interconnected lines.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carris.pt\/en\/buslines\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carris<\/a> runs a network of buses and trams.<\/p>\n<p>You can use the same card on all public transportation &#8211; standard fee is \u20ac 1.25 per ride.<\/p>\n<p>Taxis are easy to recognise and wave on the streets (NYC style) &#8211; within city they should cost you \u20ac 5 &#8211; \u20ac 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the airport: Lisbon airport is right in the city.
